Frequently Asked Questions

When did you start writing?

Creative writing? Probably 4th Grade when everyone in our class published a book of short stories and poetry, and my dream of being a writer was born. (And no! That short work will never see the light of day. It is terrible.)
But since then, I’ve written short stories, plays, even technical white papers (snooze.) But novels? I first attempted during NaNoWriMo in 2019. That attempt eventually turned into The Standard Book of Anything.

Do you get tons of praise and money heaped upon you for being a writer?

Hahahaha. No. I haven’t quit my day job. But I do love writing, and I’ll keep working hard to connect my stories to readers, because it’s fun, and it’s a rewarding thing to do. My current writing goals are to reach as many readers as I can, and break even on my expenses.

What authors influence you?

Sooooo many! Marissa Meyer, Brandon Sanderson, Douglas Adams, Lindsey Buroker, Richard Adams, TJ Klune, Suzanne Collins, Matt Dinniman, Olivia Atwater, Travis Baldree, Octavia Butler, Heather Fawcett, Naomi Novik…. the list just goes on and on!
I read a crap-ton, and there are so many amazing books out there, and so little time. (Find me on Goodreads or StoryGraph!)

What do you do when you aren’t writing?

Sleep. Work my day job. (I’m a healthcare actuary.) Hang out and do cool stuff with my husband, like geocaching and paddleboarding and biking and pinballing. Try to be a better friend than I currently am. READ!

What if I want to know more about you?

You could probably Google me. Everything is on the internet nowadays.
You could also follow me on Facebook or Instagram. (I know, they’re evil, but they’re all I have.) You could also sign up for my mailing list. I’ll send you a quarterly(ish) email. I won’t spam you or sell your info.
